Circuito do Boavista

GT Racer returns to Porto, Portugal

The city of Porto in Portugal has one of the most exciting street tracks in the world – the Circuito do Boavista. Every other year the steadily growing brotherhood of vintage racers bring their cars down south to this historic circuit, site of one of motor sport’s most memorable incidents. In the 1958 Portuguese Grand Prix, Sir Stirling Moss came to the defense of title rival Mike Hawthorn, who had run afoul of the stewards during an off-track excursion during the race; Moss persuaded the stewards not to disqualify Hawthorn, preserving second place and six points for Hawthorn, who would eventually win that year’s driver’s championship by a single point over Moss. In these select clips from GT Racer, it’s almost as if you’re there yourself.
