This one hundred year-old-limousine was produced by Peerless in 1920. Called the Model 56, this sedan limo has a 331 cubic inch flathead V8 producing 80 horsepower. It sports a 125 inch wheelbase, a three-speed transmission and weighs a whopping 4,800 pounds. At $3,900, the price tag was also rather steep for 1920, which makes sense for a limousine.

The interior features an electric speaking tube, a curved divider window with original beveled glass and jump seats. The front and back have cloth upholstery in case the owner wanted to drive.

It is the only surviving sedan limousine from that year, making it a unique and sought-after collector’s piece. In the 1970s it was owned by a “museum” (car dealer) called Roaring Twenties, who later sold it. In the 1990s, Air Force General Rex Hadley restored the car over the course of ten years.

My family and I are quite connected to this car. My daughters grew up riding to car shows in it (see photos), and I have taken it on several road trips, hitting speeds up to 60 mph. It was also featured in a Peerless club magazine several years ago. This car will undoubtedly remain in our family for many years and continue to be a key part of many special memories.
