Audi R8 V10 Decennium: A Decade of V-10 Power

For any of you lacking in Latin training, decennium means a decade. So what is that doing attached to an Audi R8? It has been 10 years since the German automaker borrowed its corporate cousin Lamborghini’s V-10 and began to install it in the R8.

For 2020, Audi designers have updated all R8 V10s to a decidedly more aggressive demeanor, beginning at the nose with larger intakes below the headlamps, a honeycomb grille, and lower spoiler lip. In back is a new bumper with honeycomb air outlets and a revised diffuser. Somehow the side inlet vents look more dramatic and the car’s stance even more at-the-ready.

Decennium models add special logos and a number of exterior details such as a gloss black front spoiler and side sills. Only 222 Decenniums will be made with just 50 headed stateside. The America-bound models will be last of the special models assembled, numbers 173 to 222.

All U.S.-spec Decenniums will be painted Mythos Black metallic. The black theme continues inside with details that include diamond stitching in the leather seats and carbon fiber inlay details. While other R8 V-10 models are available as a coupe or roadster, all Decenniums will be coupes.

It comes as no surprise that the Decennium is equipped with the most powerful version of the 5.2-liter V-10, which is rated at 602 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. Audi clocks its 0-60 time at 3.3 seconds and, like all Audi R8 V10s, the Decennium will top 200 mph.

The 50 Decenniums headed to America will go on sale this summer with a base list price of $217,545. In contrast, the standard R8 V10 coupe with 562 horsepower starts at $169,000.
